Whenever I visit a new city, I love to hunt out the hidden bars lurching in seemingly innocent places. From bars disguised as pawn shops and public toilets to those with concealed entrances behind vending machines and underneath beds (yes, this actually happened once).
These bars, known as speakeasy bars, rose to prominence during the prohibition in the United States when they sold illegal alcohol. Today, they’re nothing more than a bit of fun.
